The harness and spring tether components in this system can be reused, reducing the overall cost for infusion studies.
For short-term infusion studies in mice, the harness can be a useful tool. Harnesses can be adjusted to fit a variety of mice, and can be cleaned and reused for several studies. The spring tether can also be reused, for a lower cost study overall. However, this system is not the preferred option for longer term studies or for studies that require frequent connection/disconnection; instead, we recommend a system using the CannuLock™ Catheter Access Buttons™.
This configuration makes it possible to simultaneously infuse solutions and collect blood for DMPK studies. The swivel lines connect between the pump and the externalized jugular catheter, while a second line (typically the CAC) is connected to our Catheter Access Port™ to keep the blood collection process clean, reduce blood loss, and improve catheter patency. If you are looking for a simpler system that improves animal health and catheter patency, view our CannuLock™ Catheter Access Buttons™.
